Oct 4 - Mirror Lake (Uintas)

Heading up to the Uintas this morning to check out the Fall colors and to show this incredible place to my sister who is visiting.

The forecast is for sunny skies and a high in the mid-40s in those mountains which all sit above 10,000 ft.

Driving up Parley's Canyon towards Park City is looking pretty colorful this morning. It'll probably look better on the way back though as the sun is in our eyes as we head east towards Park City.

After passing Park City, we head south towards Heber and then exit towards Kamas.

Our first stop is the Jordanelle Reservoir overlook. The water looks great and so to the colorful trees along the ski resorts of Park City. Mt Timp has a dusting of snow in the distant background.

Then it's on to Kamas and then east on the Mirror Lake Highway. Tons of color along the hill sides..

Seeing a bunch of free range cattle but no deer this morning.

Our next stop is at the Provo River Falls. The Falls are still going strong for October!

Time to head higher making the next stop at the overlook just before Bald Mt Pass (10,700 ft). It's super windy (and cold) but beautiful!

Even just Bald Mt.

Then onto the final stop and Mirror Lake. As we start around, the wind is not allowing Mirror Lake to live up to it's reflective namesake. But the scenery is still beautiful as we work our way around the lake.

Not animals, no fish sighting, no bird sightings (though we did hear a few). Just hearing the flowing cold wind today.

The plan is to have a picnic at the lake; well, we had one in my car at the lake.

Back in the car, I head north towards the Ruth Lake trailhead just to check it out. By the time we turn around it's already cloudy and looking like snow. Yep, it's snowing!!! Tiny little flakes!

As we head down, the snow turns to light rain and than sun! And those colorful leaves are sure shining bright.

However, as we approach Park City, we're back in the clouds but that's OK, we're just heading home.

Awesome day!
